It's All About Supporting the Kids

If you’ve ever been to a Chick-fil-A (and let’s face it, who hasn’t had a major craving for one of our chicken sandwiches and milkshakes?), you know that we’re a friendly bunch with one overall goal: to serve. It doesn’t matter who we are in the company, we treat our customers like they’re our best friends. We know that kindness is truly a higher calling. And we serve our communities like neighbors. 

That’s why we jumped at the chance to partner with Pittsburgh Three Rivers Marathon (P3R) as the new title partner of the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon and the presenting partner of the award-winning Kids of STEEL program. 

I’ve been a Chick-fil-A franchise operator for years, and I love working with this esteemed company focused on inspiring and equipping the next generation of leaders. Supporting both the Kids Marathon and Kids of STEEL program perfectly aligns with our goal of helping children in our local communities. 

As a marathoner, I couldn’t be more excited to combine both my love of running with my organization’s goals. Since my first full marathon in 1989 in Columbus, Ohio, I’ve participated in countless races, and I’ve participated in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Marathon weekend of events events every year since the marathon came back to Pittsburgh in 2009. I’ve qualified for and participated in the Boston Marathon twice, and I’ve complete both a Half Ironman competition and a 50-mile ultra-marathon. 

Running is not just a passion – it’s a healthy habit that keeps me going. And I love that I now have this great opportunity through Chick-fil-A to share that passion and habit with the next generation of athletes and encourage them to do their best.

Ron Trout is a Chick-fil-A Operator in Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania and an avid runner. Since running the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon when it returned to the Steel City in 2009, he has run 19 additional marathons, including the Boston Marathon twice, as well as a 1half Ironman and 50-mile Ultra race. His boasts a personal best of 3:27.
