Take the Corporate Challenge: DICK'S Sporting Goods Story

by DICK'S Sporting Goods
From the moment you step inside a DICK’S Sporting Goods, you’ll see that the love of sports is evident in everything we do as a team and a company. We aim to serve and inspire athletes and outdoor enthusiasts to achieve their personal best – but our mission isn’t solely focused on these folks.

We also concentrate on the 40,000 teammates who are passionate, committed, skilled and driven to help our athletes – and one another – to achieve their personal best. The teammates who give their all, all day long, and strive to be better tomorrow than they are today.

DICK’S Sporting Goods supports and encourages the well-being of each and every teammate in their quest to achieve their personal best. This backing begins with our organizational culture of health and the idea that participation in sports makes people better.

From the tennis and basketball courts to the fully equipped gym and outdoor trails, our corporate campus is built for a healthy lifestyle. Because we enjoy healthy competition and like to have fun, we also offer recreational sports and offer participation in external programs, for example, encouraging our employees to participate in the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon events.

Every year, hundreds of employees from our corporate campus and retail locations join company leaders for the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon weekend of events. Just as teammates enjoy fitness activities and sports together on our corporate campus, they also train for their races together for the added support and bond that often results from striving for a shared goal.

Employee wellness programs encourage physical activity to help improve the overall health and well-being of our workforce. When our teammates feel good, they have more energy and creativity to bring to their work. It’s really a win-win for everyone!

We are committed to helping teammates take care of themselves. We are proud employee wellness is not only the foundation of our organizational culture, but more importantly, that it encourages DICK’S Sporting Goods teammates to ultimately practice what we preach.

Whether it’s participating in sports or training for a full marathon, we’ll continue working to achieve our wellness goals so we can help other athletes to do the same.

DICK’S Sporting Goods is one of 50 companies participating in the 2019 FedEx Ground Pittsburgh Corporate Challenge

Now the nation’s largest sports retailer, DICK'S Sporting Goods was founded in 1948 when 18-year-old Dick Stack used a $300 gift from his grandmother and his relentless work-ethic to open a bait-and-tackle shop in Binghamton, New York. Since Ed Stack and his siblings bought the store from their father, they have grown our company to employ more than 40,000 teammates who work at 729 retail locations across the country and the corporate campus in Pittsburgh.
