Additional Race Information

Kids of STEEL sites have the option to receive their students' race numbers and shirts ahead of time so that they can distribute these items at their school/site. If your child is part of an official Kids of STEEL school/site, please check with your coordinator to see if they will be taking advantage of this option.

If your KOS school/site is not distributing items or you do not attend a KOS site, you have two options for packet pick-up.

  1. Friday, May 1, 2020 - Visit the Pittsburgh Health and Fitness Expo between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM and look for the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon booth. Click here for Expo hours and location.
  2. Saturday, May 2, 2020 - Visit the 5K/Kids Marathon Packet Pickup tent in Gold Lot 4 at the corner of Mazeroski Way and West General Robinson Street (near the start line) starting at 8:00 AM.

Please note that Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon participants will not receive a race packet confirmation ticket ahead of time. Race numbers will be sorted and picked up alphabetically by last name.

First heat starts at 9:30 AM. Kids of STEEL sites are assigned to specific heat times. Please look for these race heat signs when you arrive and allow extra time on race morning to find your heat.

We follow guidelines from the Department of Public Safety. Heat start times are subject to change. Please plan to arrive downtown as early as possible to ensure you can adjust as necessary to any time changes.

Children running with an adult
If your child arrives in the finish line before you, volunteers will keep them in the finish line chute until you meet up with them.

Waiting Area 1 is on the left side of the chute after you cross the finish line. Waiting Area 2 is all the way down the chute on the right just before you exit the family reunion area.

Once you have your child, proceed through the finish line chute. Volunteers will check to ensure you have a matching number or ‘Kid Claim’ ticket before leaving the Family Reunion Area. If you have more than one child with you, have the ‘Kid Claim’ number available for each child for volunteers to check.

Children running without an adult
Detach the ‘Kid Claim’ tag from your child’s race number before the race. The Family Reunion Area is at the finish area on the Blvd. of the Allies. Volunteers will check race numbers to make sure they match before leaving the Family Reunion Area.  If you have more than one child with you, have the ‘Kid Claim’ number available for each child for volunteers to check.
